Regardless of if you’re in a relationship, thinking about having a relationship, or actively avoiding a relationship, there is one concept that is a non-negotiable must-do: hygiene.

I can’t tell you how often I hear from people living around autism that hygiene is a concern for the people they care about.

I’ve simplified this list almost to the point of absurdity. Here’s a daily checklist to do every day:

  • Wash your pits and parts.
  • Brush your teeth.
  • Put on deodorant.

Yes, I really did say “daily” and “every day” in the same sentence.

A note for partners, parents, friends, companions: this can be difficult! Keep a stick of deodorant in the car.

Just in case.
